The evidence is in! We know that singing fosters health, happiness, and is the perfect ice-breaker.
Singing promotes well being, promoting feelings of belonging and social connectedness. It is is good for physical health, regulating blood pressure, releasing endorphins, key neurotransmitters and immune defence mechanisms of the body that support a healthy immune system and counter stress.
Singing together creates specially communities where everyone contributes to the choir’s sound using our most natural instrument – the voice. Choral singing is one important part of a toolkit for finding “authentic happiness”, to borrow from positive psychology guru Martin Seligman.
When combined with humour and laughter at our Thursday night rehearsals (great for the immune system!), we believe our choir transforms lives for the better.
